Warning: Spoilers for the latest installment of this adventure are included.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
The latest chapter concluded with a dramatic pause and introduced the first table of adventurers who will split off from the central cast to undertake their independent quest, apart from the remaining groups.
This warrior group includes Teor (portrayed by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura), Tyranny (the cast member), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
With 13 cast members, it was obvious from the outset that having everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
This explains, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Prelude, intertwining the individual narratives before branching into three separate parties: Fighters, Strategists, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
Per the DM, the Soldiers table is for players who enjoy a typically action-packed fight-heavy narrative style where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
Initially, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might appear out of place, but the developments of the latest installment show why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
For one thing, the group has a clear idea where to head next after a brutal initial meeting with the enemy group.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose demise kicked off the campaign’s events—manipulated the foes for his own means, invading the hidden lair, attacking the character, and swiping all the powerful objects to sell off.
The antagonist then paid off his debts and ran away to a secure base in the remote area, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Additionally, each member has a personal reason to depart the metropolitan area:
- The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, wants vengeance.
- The adventurer is familiar with the northern area and advises that it is a hostile location.
- The strong character and The healer, having defied his family’s wishes to kill the fighter and instead freed him, have no other options.
- Yet, their reputation as prominent individuals in the powerful family could help the party reach locations they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, The fighter pledged a eternal obligation to Wicander for his rescue and will now follow him wherever.
Pursued by Authorities
In addition, all of them are sought by the rulers that rule the setting for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind dangerous:
- The rogue and Kattigan are known criminals.
- Tyranny and The healer betrayed the powerful family and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This leaves them no alternative but to head to the northern region in search of the traitor.
Future Episodes
Based on the recent installment’s follow-up content, we find out that the Soldiers table will be absent the following episode, leaving the remaining eight cast members to round up the Questers and Strategists parties.
Fans can anticipate learning which adventurers will be assigned to which table in the story’s last Overture episode, available to watch on October 24.
